As details continue to slowly trickle out about Rihanna’s highly anticipated eighth studio album Anti, a new report Friday (Oct. 30) indicates that the Roc Nation singer could be linking up with Samsung in a massive deal. The New York Post says that Samsung and Rihanna have partnered up for a $25 million sponsorship deal surrounding both the release of Anti and her upcoming world tour.
However, one source tells Billboard that while the deal with Rihanna is certainly in the works, it’s not completely done just yet.
Details are scarce for now, but while the deal’s scope is massive, it’s not the first time the communications giant has entered the field of album releases. Back in 2013, Jay Z linked up with Samsung in a $5 million partnership to release his 12th solo album, Magna Carta…Holy Grail, to one million Samsung Galaxy owners who downloaded an exclusive app three days before its retail sale date. With Rihanna signed to Jay’s Roc Nation, the partnership has a history already.
According to the Post, the deal has been in the works for seven months — held up due to changes to the final album — with Samsung looking to use Rihanna’s music videos to help promote their streaming service, Milk Music, as well as their Galaxy phones. Anti does not yet have a release date.
